Instructors

Dave Shaver, Academy Director

Dave has been teaching the game of golf for the past 20 years and has earned the distinction of “Master Teaching Professional”. He has written several articles for “Golf Teaching Pro” Magazine, appeared on the “Golf Tips” for NBC television in Phoenix, and is the Director of the Southwest Section for the US Golf Teacher’s Federation.

Dave is currently the Director of Instruction at Ahwatukee Country Club in Phoenix . He is also on the faculty teaching staff at Arizona State University teaching students enrolled in the PGA’s Professional Golf Management Program. Additionally he teaches high-level corporate outings with the renowned “Executive Golf Events” and is a Certified ModelGolf Instructor. Dave has provided golf instruction to over 20,000 students, ranging from beginners to both lady and men tour players. He was named Southwest Section “Teacher of the Year”, and has been nominated several times by Golf Magazine for the prestigious “Top 100 Teachers in America”. Dave was recently selected as one of the "Top 60 Golf Instructors" in the world by the World Golf Teachers Federation.

Jay Becher, Head Professional

Jay has been the Head Golf Professional at Ahwatukee Country Club for the past 12 years. He is the lead instructor for the Academy Golf Schools. Jay is a ModelGolf certified teacher and is also the head instructor for South Mountain Community College students.
